Aicha Elbasri, the former spokesperson for the United Nations’ Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and GAP client, resigned in 2013 after blowing the whistle on a "conspiracy of silence," in which UNAMID and UN officials failed to properly report atrocities committed by the Sudanese government and its associated militias against the people of Darfur.

Whistleblower Thomas Drake used every internal channel available to whistleblowers before sharing declassified information that highlighted waste, fraud, abuse and illegality to the tune of $4 billion. For this, he was charged with ten felony counts, five of which fell under the Espionage Act.

Mother Jones reports that affidavits, which ‘offer blistering critiques’ of the HOG HIMP program at three Hormel plants, not only discuss food-safety concerns (such as toenails, hair and fecal matter making it past inspection), but also that "the company threatens plant employees with terminations if they see them condemning too many carcasses or carcass parts."

The Nobel Peace Prize Watch has written an open letter to the The Stortinget (the Parliament of Norway), The Nobel Foundation in Stockholm and The Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo to demand that measures be taken to ensure that the Peace Prize serves the will of Alfred Nobel. The letter states:

GAP sent a letter to DHS and DoS to request that the US government curtail its cooperation with Interpol efforts to arrest and extradite whistleblowers who disclose potential tax evasion and are charged as criminals in offshore jurisdictions.
The Tax Justice Network supports this effort.

Tom Drake is an American hero. He reported billions of dollars in waste and rampant civil liberties abuses by the NSA on a surveillance program. For his honesty, he was stripped of all official duties at the agency and faced criminal charges under the 1917 Espionage Act. Drake endured ten years of reprisals for blowing the whistle, and sadly, the Pentagon Inspector General’s Office only chose to inquire into five months within those ten years to find there was no evidence of retaliation…
