During his career in climate, Dr. David Goodrich was Director of both the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) Office in Washington and the Global Climate Observing System Secretariat in Geneva. He retired in February 2011 as Director of NOAA’s Climate Observation Division. Three months later he rode his bicycle from Cape Henlopen, Delaware to Waldport, Oregon. His first long bicycle ride was in 2000, across Washington state, Idaho, and Montana.

US Withholds Funding from UN Agency for Inadequate Protection of Whistleblowers

On Monday, September 14th, GAP learned that the US Congress will withhold 15 percent of the US contribution to the UN World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) this year. WIPO is the global forum for intellectual property policy, services and cooperation. Although it is largely self-funding, WIPO still relies in some measure on the contributions from its 188 member states.

GAP is participating to highlight the need for serious anti-corruption efforts globally, and to support those groups in Malaysia who are working under difficult circumstances to fight corruption in their country. We also respect and understand the decision of organizations that choose not to participate in the conference if they determine that is the best course of action for them.
