Jim Harden

Jim Harden serves as GAP’s Director of Finance, where he oversees all financial matters for GAP, including creating the annual budget, handling GAP’s day-to-day accounting functions, and preparing financial presentations for the GAP Board and donor organizations.

Previously, Jim worked as the Senior Director of Finance for the American Architectural Foundation, where he led all aspects of financial management for the organization. His major responsibilities included budgeting and forecasting, accounting and reporting, cash management, and institutional reporting and analysis.

Jim served as the Finance Director for National Geographic Books in Washington, DC for over 15 years. In this executive capacity, Jim created annual budgets for the Books Division, and liaised directly with editors-in-chief, sales directors, and other department heads to develop and incorporate appropriate cross-departmental forecasts.

Prior to his work at National Geographic, Jim served as a Senior Financial Analyst for the World Wildlife Fund, where he successfully tracked and executed detailed financial quarterly reviews for programs whose budgets totaled roughly $100 million.

Jim is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. In his spare time, he volunteers with SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders) in DC. An avid runner, he has finished the Boston Marathon multiple times.
