U.N. to Release Updated Whistleblower Policy

(Washington, DC) – The Government Accountability Project has learned that the United Nations is expected to release a new whistleblower protection policy for its staff in the next few days, with a possibility of release later tonight, October 28. This policy has been many months in the making, with an original draft being released for employee review and comment last March.

Hanford Pipefitters Victorious In Case Against Hanford Contractor

Whistleblowers Win Case Against Fluor Federal Services Company 

(Washington, DC) – Earlier today, at around 10:20 a.m. PDT, the trial in the case of 11 Hanford pipefitter whistleblowers, represented by Seattle attorney Jack Sheridan and the Government Accountability Project (GAP), came to a close. All eleven pipefitters were victorious, as Fluor Federal Services, a Department of Energy Contractor at the Hanford site, was found liable for damages totaling $4,760,000. The trial began in mid-July.

Watchdog Groups Demand Swift Action by Multilateral Development Banks
 
(Washington, DC) – In a joint letter to Treasury Secretary John Snow, a coalition of watchdog groups including the Government Accountability Project (GAP) has called for actions to be taken after a Congressional deadline passed yesterday for the World Bank and its four sister organizations to meet accountability and transparency goals.
